Period Re-Roof with Reclaimed Tiles, Sheringham
A full strip-back re-roof on a period property with multiple roof elevations and a feature turret — reclaimed double concrete tiles kept the original character while everything underneath was rebuilt new.

What Happened
The Problem
Years of exposure to Sheringham's coastal climate had left the roof weathered and near the end of its life. The property's design — a feature turret, multiple roof sections, valleys and hips — meant every detail needed specialist attention, not a standard strip-and-cover job. The homeowners wanted to keep the property's original look while getting a roof built to last.
What We Did
After putting up full perimeter scaffolding, we stripped the roof back to its structure, checked the timbers, and rebuilt from there — new breathable membrane, new treated battens, reclaimed double concrete tiles supplied and fitted to match the original, and careful detailing around the turret, hips and valleys. Leadwork was inspected and renewed where needed, finishing with new ridge work throughout.
The Result
The property now has a roof that looks original but performs like new — reclaimed tiles matching the existing architecture, with a membrane, battens, and leadwork built to handle North Norfolk's coastal weather for years to come.
